What Is The Meaning Of Puberty?
Meaning of Puberty
There is no doubt that one of the most noticeable stages of the human developing and growth is puberty. Both girls and boys have several changes when they start their stage of puberty. What is that meaning of puberty? What are its stages? What are the changes that happen within boys or girls? And how can puberty be defined? Well, all these questions and more shall be answered in the following statements of my article.
To understand the meaning of puberty, your need to understand how does it happen, and the changes that accompany this operation. This is a kind of sexual awareness, and we should teach our children about this. When I was a kid, I didn’t know what I was going through, because my parents didn’t tell me about it.
Do not let your child live like this and without any idea of what he is or she is having. This might lead them to several emotional changes that I will be talking about in another article.
So, what is the meaning of puberty?
It is that stage, when a child experiences several changes, such as psychological and physiological changes, that make him/her able of productivity (sexual productivity). It is the first step toward being ‘adult’. The child will have many questions about these changes. Here comes the role of the parents, to give them the right answers and aware them of what is going on with them. Otherwise, they will have false answers from their friends or classmates at school. The questions that a kid or a child might ask about those changes will be cited in another article.
Usually the girls reach their puberty between the age of 8 years and 14 years, and in moderate term, at the age of 11 years. While, boys reach their puberty between the age of 9 years and 14 years, and in moderate term at the age of 12 years.
Meaning of puberty: hormonal nervous changes:
The puberty is an operation that happens in a harmony or diapason way between important organs of the body. as well as the uniformity between hormones of Hypothalamus and the pituitary gland, and also the sexual glands (Testes in males and ovaries in females). In addition, we cannot ignore the important role of the Adrenal in producing the sexual hormones.
For the males, the main sexual hormone is the testosterone. And there is a low production of Estradiol later in the tissues of the body.
The Semi-adulthood appears in the boys after the girls (about a year). The changes in boys take longer time than in the girls. All those changes and other modifications happen in the bones cause the boys to become taller than girls.
The hormones of sexual growth in the female are more difficult than in the males. The principal Steroid hormones in females are the testosterone, the Estradiol, progesterone, and also the Prolactin that plays an important physiological role in the stage of growing up.
Meaning of puberty; the stages of puberty:
- The puberty stage in the female:
In this stage, the girl’s body turns into a woman’s body slowly and gradually. It becomes capable of releasing the hormones that motivate the Ovaries to release the Estrogen.
In case, the female became 15 years old and the growth of the breasts is clear, and she does not have menstruation, and also if there is no sign of puberty by the age of 14 years; then she has to consult the doctor to make sure that everything is alright.
Changes that happen in female during puberty:
- Principal signs:
The series of signs of puberty is; breast growth > pubic hair appears > Armpit hair appears > bleeding and first period signs.
Menstruation happens for the first time:
The menstruation happens in girls at age of 12 to 13 years for the first time. After the breasts grow; during the first three days, the girls bleeds a lot, but after two days of four, it decreases (according to the nature of the girl).
The pain of menstruation happens because of the shrinkage of the vagina muscles, during the production of hormones.
- The shade of the body:
Increase the weight and length:
This starts at the age of 9 years old; that happens before puberty within 6 months. The organs start to grow first, then the body. Some girls gain weight. They gain fats over their arms, legs, and the upper side of the back. The hip becomes wider and bigger, while the waist becomes narrower.
The breasts growth is an early sign of the puberty. It might happen before age of 9 years in some girls, while it last longer in others. The breast remains growing until the age of 17 to 18 years, and sometimes until 20 years.
- The changes in the hair:
The hair starts growing in specific areas of the body, such as; pubic hair, Armpit hair, and also intensive (often) and dark in arms and legs. If you see hair in the chest or chin, make sure to see a doctor.
- What does the body releases:
The vagina starts to release different kinds of liquids. A white viscous liquid appears. And those releases have some smell but not so strong. If it is intensive and strong smell, or the liquid if getting dark yellow or green, or it caused irritation and itching, then you should see a doctor immediately.
- The smell of the body and acnes:
After reaching the puberty, the body might have some smells due to the changes in the sweat elements. Also they usually see that their faces start getting acnes, which can cause several psychological and physical conditions. Those acnes are natural, so just leave them, with time they will disappear.

Meaning of puberty: when does puberty happen?
In order to state the meaning of puberty, we must know when it happens. Usually, there are many factors that define the time of puberty. Those factors are; physiological, nervous, hormone, and genital organs functions.
Most of the time, the age of puberty is between 9 and 14 years old, and the moderate age is 12 years old. And this factor is affected by other factors such as nutrition, social circumstances, or the race.
If the girl is older than 14 years, and the boy is 15 years, then it is highly recommended to visit a doctor. The late puberty is caused by different factors, which must be highly taken into consideration.
However, talking about the meaning of puberty took me to other interesting topics I will write about them. I will continue collecting my ideas and motivations, and I will continue writing about anything related to this sensitive stage of human growth. The way toward adulthood.
